IoPP is committed to providing advanced specialist education that is ethical, academically robust and clinically relevant. Our standards are designed to support qualified therapists to develop the knowledge, judgement, reflexivity and accountability required for complex specialist practice.
The Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Psychotherapy is a COSRT-accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy (PRT) course at COSRT Level Seven (7). COSRT has assessed the course against its professional qualification requirements, including entry requirements, learning outcomes, teaching quality, clinical placements and supervision.
Accreditation status for all other IoPP programmes is stated clearly on the relevant individual course page. Applicants should review each course’s information carefully before applying.
IoPP expects students, faculty and staff to practise with integrity, respect and professional responsibility. Teaching, assessment and conduct expectations are informed by COSRT’s ethical and professional standards and, where applicable, relevant standards from bodies such as UKCP, BACP, NCPS and HCPC.
We promote informed consent, appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, respectful communication and a clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. We expect concerns to be raised responsibly and considered fairly.
Our faculty are appropriately qualified and professionally registered for the subjects they teach, with relevant specialist and clinical experience. Teaching brings together contemporary research, clinical expertise, reflective learning and the varied traditions that inform psychotherapy and psychosexual practice.
Our course directors hold recognised teaching qualifications or higher-education professional recognition, including PGCHE, PGCE and/or FHEA status, supporting the delivery and assessment of Level 7 study. Our biomedical tutors are dual-qualified medical doctors and registered psychosexual and relationship therapists. Our group-process facilitators are registered sex therapists with additional training or experience in group facilitation and relationship-therapy interventions.
Our programmes use transparent assessment processes to evaluate academic learning, clinical understanding, reflective capacity and professional development. We use clear course requirements, feedback and appropriate quality assurance arrangements to support fair, rigorous and meaningful learning.
Where a course includes clinical practice, IoPP sets requirements for suitable placements, supervision, client safety and reflective practice. Students remain responsible for securing and maintaining their placement, but IoPP provides guidance on course requirements and support in preparing for specialist clinical work.
We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment in which practitioners can engage seriously with challenge, feedback and personal development. Our approach recognises that specialist practice depends not only on knowledge and skills, but also on self-awareness, ethical judgement and a capacity to work thoughtfully with difference.
