We are pleased to present the Institute of Psychosexual Psychotherapy’s comprehensive training pathways, designed to guide aspiring and practicing professionals through a structured journey in psychosexual and relationship therapy. Our programmes are meticulously crafted to meet the highest standards of the profession, leading to recognised registrations and accreditations.
These three distinct courses can be taken as standalone qualifications or, when combined, form a progressive five-year training pathway culminating in UKCP Full Clinical Membership.
This pathway is designed for individuals new to the field wishing to qualify as a counsellor. To be eligible, applicants should possess Level 2 & 3 Certificate Counselling Skills or equivalent appropriate work experience. Upon completion of the two-year, part-time Diploma in Relational Counselling, graduates will be eligible to apply for BACP or NCPS Registration (BACP require Level 2 & 3 Certificates). Successful completion of this qualification provides eligibility for progression onto our Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy.
For those aiming to specialise in psychosexual and relationship therapy, Pathway 2 offers a robust two-year, part-time Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. As an accredited course, successful completion of this diploma enables graduates to obtain COSRT Registration as a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist. Admission to this programme requires applicants to be a BACP, NCPS, UKCP, or HCPC (or equivalent) registered Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Practitioner Psychologist.
Our most advanced offering, Pathway 3, is a year five of the psychosexual psychotherapy training pathway, culminating in the Psychotherapy Practitioner Diploma (one year part-time). Entry into this pathway requires applicants to be a COSRT Registered or Accredited Psychosexual Therapist. Upon successful completion of this pathway, including +450 hours and 3 years post-qualification practice (or current COSRT accreditation), graduates will be eligible for UKCP Full Clinical Membership.
These pathways reflect our commitment to excellence in training and our dedication to developing highly competent and ethical psychosexual and relationship therapists. We look forward to welcoming you to the Institute of Psychosexual Psychotherapy.
